Boston—Masters in International Marketing program The Professor of the Year Award for our  Masters in International Marketing  program, Boston campus, was awarded to Professor of Marketing Steve Hurley.  Steve teaches on Hults EMBA, MBA, and Masters programs across our Boston, San Francisco, Dubai, and New York campus locations. With  20 years experience as a senior management consultant with Arthur D. Little Inc., ten years as VP of ITSMA (the worlds leading association for marketers at technology companies), and another ten years as Managing Director and founder of consulting firm Solutions Insights, Inc., its safe to say Steve knows a thing or two about marketing. â€Å"Solutions Marketing with Professor Steve Hurley was always so lively and thought-provoking.† -Jussara Nunes,  EMBA Class of 2017 Digital Marketing Manager, BNP Paribas Hi Steve, and congratulations on the teaching award! How would you say your professional experience influences your teaching style? My consulting firm is very active in providing assistance to large technology companies—particularly in areas relating to solutions. The challenges that I bring to the classroom are often those that my partners or I are currently facing, so students get to grapple with relevant issues that are important today. I also visit and speak at numerous marketing conferences, which gives me a lot of ideas to take back to the class. Finally, I have conducted business in 67 countries around the world, so I would like to think that I can offer a global perspective! Students learn best when they have fun. Anything I can do to keep them relaxed, smiling, and laughing helps to keep them engaged and energized. -Steve Hurley, Professor of Marketing What do you think students appreciate about your teaching style? I have several teaching principles. I would say my top three are: 1) Students learn best when they have fun: Anything I can do to keep them relaxed, smiling, and laughing helps to keep them engaged and energized. 2) Students learn best when they talk and share ideas with each other: I probably break students into small discussion groups around ten times per class. 3) Students only learn if they are 100% engaged in the classroom discussions and activities: I dont allow personal use of electronics during my classes and I think my students (secretly) appreciate this! How would you describe Hult students? Hult students have a thirst for knowledge. Theyre independent, brave, and passionate about tackling global issues. Hult is unique in its student diversity and practically experienced faculty, and I wouldnt teach anywhere else! It taught me a lot about how I see people, how people see me, and how conflict can be resolved in a kind and productive way. Writing an Outline Essay - Structure Tips

Writing an Outline Essay - Structure TipsAn outline essay or template can help you improve your grades on any assignment you may be given. With many students struggling to write a paper, this type of blueprint can help guide you through your writing. The writer needs to understand the basics of outlining before they can fully maximize their use of this form of writing. When you begin writing an outline essay, you will want to start by considering how long you have to complete the project. Some schools and assignments will allow you one day to complete a project. However, this time is usually limited. Be sure that you include all of the steps and details in your outline so that you can begin on that day.The first step in outlining is to decide on what you are writing about. In some cases, students use the project to simply research a subject. Others, however, will want to add some substance to the assignment, as well as a certain style and opinion to it. Regardless of the direction the topic is headed, the essay must be structured to outline each section of the project. After you have decided on the topic of the assignment, you will want to start to consider how to discuss your main point. This is typically the hardest part for most students. As mentioned, there are many different ways to structure an outline, but it is important to remember that you should always start each section with the statement 'In this section...' Once you have written this section, the rest of the paper will flow easier. The next step in outlining is to outline the writing. Most outlines will feature a particular style that the writer will use throughout the project. The writer will use strong opening and closing sentences, as well as some descriptive language throughout the essay. Many teachers even have a required template to follow to ensure consistency throughout the project.Beginning at the beginning of your essay, you will want to highlight your points in the body of the paper. When you outline, you will want to make sure that you lay out your main points in a certain order so that you are able to clearly outline all of your paragraphs. After outlining the main points, the last thing you need to do is summarize your project.Summarizing your essay can be one of the most difficult parts of writing an outline. Often, students will want to point out something to prove that their ideas are more brilliant than others. Although this may help you feel better about yourself, you will still need to give specific examples in your writing so that your reader can see how much more qualified you are to make an opinion. By working with specific examples throughout your outline, you will be able to create a specific narrative. There are many different reasons why students need to use an outline. By starting your writing from the beginning, you will be able to create a plan that will help you get a more organized and finished writing experience. Remember that when you are outlin ing, you should outline the basics first and then outline the details.
